Christmas Day Glow Prep: Tips for Glowing Skin

With Christmas just around the corner, the question is, how can we achieve healthy glowing skin during a busy festive season? Take a moment to check in on your self-care routine with our guide to radiant skin! Covering everything from when to exfoliate, fake tan, and all the do’s and don'ts in between.

The importance of a facial

Do: A facial is one of the most essential skincare treatments to make your skin glow! A good facial will improve the skin’s tone, texture, encouraging skin cell renewal. Not only that but it will deeply cleanse and exfoliate the skin, getting rid of dead skin cells, dullness, and blackheads. While it is best to do this a month beforehand- we recommend giving yourself a Saya facial at least 1-2 weeks before Christmas. This will allow any inflammation or irritation to subside and fade, replacing your skin with a radiant, youthful glow. Not sure how to give yourself an at-home facial or need a hand in layering your skincare? Check out our Step-by-Step guide!

Don’t: While you may think that getting a facial a day or two before a big event could result in instant glowing skin, think again. Facial treatments open up the pores which can push already forming blemishes to the surface, causing breakouts - potentially making your skin look even worse. We recommend giving your skin at least one week to recover from more intense treatments like masking or exfoliating.

Exfoliate the Body

When old skin cells build-up on the body, this can lead to dry, dull skin. By removing dead skin cells with an all-over body scrub, this will stimulate blood flow and encourage cell renewal. A good body scrub can also eliminate excess fluids and toxins, leading to firm and glowing skin. We recommend giving yourself at least 2 weeks before Christmas to really see results. Continue to do this 2-3 times a week leading up. In need of a luxurious body scrub? Shop our Coconut Body Polish or our Coffee Body Scrub.

Tip: For a more intense exfoliation, apply your body scrub to dry skin. Make sure to exfoliate the body the night before Christmas.

Applying Fake Tan before Christmas

Do: Want to know our number one tip to a believable faux tan? Exfoliate! Exfoliation is the key to an even, streak-free tan. Make sure to focus on exfoliating elbows, knees, and ankles. We recommend applying your fake tan to your evening routine for better results as this will give your tan time to settle into your skin.

Don’t: Never apply your fake tan on the same day as the event. Apply tan at least 24hrs before an event to shaved and exfoliated skin. This will ensure your tan has time to develop and will allow you few extra moments to correct any mistakes.

Tanning Tip: Lightly moisture your hands, feet, knees, and elbows with our Hand & Body Lotion to hydrate dry areas. This will avoid your tan from being patchy!

Glowing Skin: Consistency is Key

Let’s be honest, it’s impossible to achieve more youthful-looking skin overnight. It’s the same as when you start a new workout routine-  it requires regular attention to see results. Having a consistent skincare routine and using high-quality skincare is crucial to glowing skin. Customise a regimen for your skin needs and make sure you do it daily.

Our body is made up of 60% water, however, most of us would be guilty of not drinking enough throughout the day. By depriving your skin of hydration, our organs are unable to function properly. Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons. It delivers nutrients to cells and helps our digestive system flush out toxins from the body. Not only that but being well-hydrated, also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood. In turn, this will improve your complexion for healthy glowing skin!

It’s advised to drink at least 2 litres of water a day and consume foods that are water-rich. You can also assist the skin by using and applying moisture-rich creams and lotions daily. Our Balance Moisture is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Argan Oil to boost hydration and balance the complexion! Need an instant surge of hydration? Our Glow Serum will plump, revive, and brighten your skin!
