Dry Skin. For those who have it, we feel you! Especially in the colder months, supporting and replenishing your skin has never been more important.
Unfortunately, sometimes it isn’t as easy as slapping on a thick moisturiser and hoping for the best, but we’re here to help! Welcome to our Dry Skin Edit.
Dry Skin is caused by a lack of oil, and is typically characterised by:
- Skin that feels and looks rough
- Itching, flaking, scaling and/or peeling
- Deep cracks that may bleed
Left unsupported, dry skin could potentially lead to more serious problems such as intense itching, eczema and other skin disorders.
Long, hot showers or baths & heating
Our skin tends to be driest in Winter, we’re usually cranking up the heating and taking long, hot showers. Both feel great - but for your dry skin? Not so great. These soul-warming activities suck the moisture and oils out of your skin, leaving you parched.
Allowing time between your skincare products to sink in is important, but leaving too much time between steps is just as vital! Post-cleansing and toning, replenishing your skin to lock in that moisture is key. A moisturiser prevents water loss and helps to restore the skin’s natural barrier.
Reaching for the soap!
If you recognise a horrible tight feeling after cleansing or washing your body, it probably contains some ingredients your skin doesn’t love. SLS, or Sodium Laurel Sulphate, a surfactant, is usually the culprit. Any product that foams or lathers by nature contains a surfactant, which exacerbates dry skin, and may cause irritation or allergic reactions.
The best ingredients for dry skin include Hyaluronic Acid, Essential Fatty Acids and Ceramides.
Be sure to incorporate these into your daily skincare routine.
Double Cleanse using our Cleansing Lotion.
Mist your face all over with the Rose Water Toning Mist.
Whilst the skin is still damp, apply 6 drops of Glow Serum to the face, neck and decolletage. Allow to dry.
