Which Serum Does My Skin Need?

It’s easy, it’s vitamin A, B & C

 It's easy...it's Vitamin A, B & C.

With thousands of skincare products out there it’s hard to know which ones are a priority. And the same goes for topical vitamins. Knowing which vitamins your skin needs and when to apply them can be super overwhelming. To help you navigate them, we’ve listed a few that we believe are an absolute non-negotiable, A, B and C.

Vitamin A* Alternative

For those who are unable to use Vitamin A (retinol, retinal, retinoids), luckily there are some skin-friendly retinol alternatives to consider. One of our favourites is Bakuchiol. It’s much more gentle and you’ll still see incredible anti-ageing benefits without the irritating side effects and photosensitivity of vitamin A.

Ingredient: Bakuchiol

Main benefits: Speeds up skin cell regeneration, anti-ageing, helps to restore firmness, refines texture & tone and helps to calm the skin.

Who should use it: Those who are sensitive to Vitamin A, or pregnant or breastfeeding women - it’s safe for all skin types!

Renew Serum: It’s a powerful and nourishing oil-based serum formulated with 15 botanicals, including Bakuchiol. These botanicals work together to lock in moisture and nourishment, soften signs of ageing and improve firmness and elasticity - great for those with dry skin.

When to use: Use twice a day, in the morning and night after water-based serums and moisturisers.

Quick Tip:

Skincare is most effective at night as the skin works to repair itself, actively growing new skin cells. We recommend applying nourishing oils at nighttime like the Renew Serum to let it work its magic.

Vitamin B

Most common vitamin B’s in skincare: Niacinamide, Panthenol and Biotin.

Main benefits: Fights premature signs of ageing, brightens the skin, strengthens the skin barrier, controls sebum production, improves skin hydration and reduces inflammation.

Who should use it: Those looking to target dehydrated, dull, acne-prone, rosacea-prone, oily and/or ageing skin.

Super Serum: It’s a high performing vitamin B serum packed full of actives to keep your skin clear and healthy. It’s formulated with Hyaluronic Acid & Pentavitin® to provide instant and long-lasting hydration. Lipopeptide ChroNOline, one of the most powerful anti-ageing peptides works to boost collagen production and maintain cell cohesion. For an antioxidant boost, our Native Wildberry Blend provides nourishment and protects the skin from free radical damage. If you’re looking for a serum that does just about everything, our Super Serum will be your best bet.

When to use: Use twice a day, in the morning and night. As it’s a water-based serum apply after cleansing and before moisturisers and oil-based serums.

A & B together: Ageing skins and those with sun damage will also benefit from using a combination of the Super Serum and Renew Serum. Our Super Serum is formulated with a powerful B-complex that helps to boost the effects of vitamin A alternatives like Bakuchiol which improves the skin’s natural health through increased blood flow.

Vitamin C

Main benefits: Brightens, fades scars and hyperpigmentation, antioxidant, promotes collagen production, improves skin texture, helps to repair damaged skin cells and neutralises free radical damage.

Who should use it & why it’s important: Those with acne scarring and/or dull, sun-damaged and ageing skin. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient required for the growth and repair of tissues, including our skin. It also plays an important role in collagen synthesis which supports the skin and structure.

Who shouldn't use it: Vitamin C is not recommended for those with extremely sensitive skin.

Glow Serum: If you’re looking to fight hyperpigmentation and achieve a radiant complexion, our Glow Serum will do exactly that. It's formulated with a highly concentrated vitamin C complex and Hyaluronic Acid to fade hyperpigmentation, boost hydration and protect the skin from environmental stressors throughout the day.

When to use: Daily. We recommend applying in the morning after cleansing and before moisturisers and oil-based serums.

Does one outweigh the other?

Firstly ask yourself, what is your main concern? If your main objective is to brighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation, go for the Glow Serum as it's formulated with a potent vitamin C. However, if you're looking for a serum that can multitask by strengthening, hydrating and balancing oil production - opt for the Super. For those who have dry and sensitive skin, and want  anti-ageing benefits, our Renew Serum is going to give your skin the nourishment it needs.

The secret to glowing skin is...

If you’re looking to achieve healthy, glowing skin using a combination of A, B and C is key. This way, you’ll be fighting all skin concerns at once while preventing those you don’t have. You’ll be feeding your skin with antioxidants, strengthening and protecting it while promoting health, protecting against skin decline and achieving long-lasting hydration.
